Top 5 Must Have Gadgets for Christmas 2012

Top 5 Must Have Gadgets for Christmas 2012

Once upon a time the best thing you could expect for Christmas was a pair of socks, a knitted jumper from your Grandma and if you were really lucky, you might get a brand new video game or a film.
Nowadays, everyone wants the latest gadgets and it's a real sign of the times when you see children unwrapping iPads when once they would be unwrapping train sets and action figures. But that's not to say that these gadgets aren't great for adults either.
Samsung Galaxy Camera
The first Android-powered, full blown digital SLR Smart Camera. The Samsung Galaxy Camera comes with a vast array of advanced features, applications and a beautiful 4.7" touchscreen. It also features the same display technology as the Samsung Galaxy S3 Smartphone. The 12 Megapixel camera should give you some sharp, precise shots. Meanwhile, a whole host of photograph editing applications allow you to make your photos picture perfect every time.
New Furby 2012
After a 14 year absence, the Furbies are back and noisier than ever! With their adorable, half bird-half gremlin looks and big, digital eyes that now react to your voice and movement by gibbering away in their 'furbish' language.
Google Nexus 7 Tablet
Move over iPad, because the Google Nexus 7 is the latest slick, slim and sexy tablet. It basically does everything the more expensive tablets do, but a lot faster.
Major plus points are the compact, light design, sharp screen and quad core processor, which makes everything run speedily. Drawbacks are that it only has 8 or 16GB of internal memory, which can't be added to, and there's no 3G or 4G receiver, so you're limited to Wi-Fi rather than having mobile internet. So you can see where they've saved money in order to bring the retail price down.
That said, there's a lot of impressive technology on offer here, plus you get access to Android operating system updates as soon as they become available, because this is a Google Experience Device.
Amazon Kindle Fire HD
This is another Android-powered tablet, but with 16GB of memory at the lowest price point. No doubt this one will be popular with women who love their Kindles and want something to surf the web and read digital copies of their favourite magazines amongst other online things.
Amazon Kindle Fire HD is light, slim and sharp with a higher resolution touchscreen, but with a less powerful dual core processor than the Google Nexus 7. And let's not forget that you get access to the Amazon app store where you can download all manner of widgets and games.
iPod Touch and iPod Nano 7th Generation
The iPod Touch and iPod Nano 7th generation MP3 players are packed with more features than ever before and come in a dazzling array of colours.
The 4" Retina display on the iPod Touch makes it much easier to choose the tracks you want while and the snazzy aluminium back and super slim design makes it fit perfectly into your jacket pocket. Perfect if you want a separate portable music player or simply don't fancy an iPhone.
Summary
There's some seriously expensive tech on people's Christmas lists this year and it's interesting to see the variety of gadgets on offer, form smart cameras to music players, toys and tablets. The tablet marketing is continuing to grow as the prices become more competitive and the quality of the products keeps increasing. At this rate, it won't be long until everyone has one in addition to their Smartphone.
